Kate Burkhardt 

Kate Burkhardt is a photographer based in Ashland, Oregon. Burkhardt makes photographs that are at once surreal and jarring,  generally depicting real moments in stark vibrance and clarity. She aims to capture the terror, joy, and humor that is found in all kinds of relationships. She is notably inspired by the times of day when light dramatically acts as a backdrop for the most lively and vulnerable parts of human nature. She is drawn to both the city and the natural untamed parts of her state, and how these settings affect the way people feel and act.

Additionally, Burkhardt documents clothing in a way that is representative of personality. The clothes that people wear are an extension of themselves, and in her staged shoots, she styles her friends in ways that she believes are true to their most authentic selves.
